The Cleansing Stick That Lets You Wash Your Face Without Actually Washing Your Face

A cleansing stick is a solid face wash with a roll-on applicator, like a deodorant. You rub it all over your face, and then your face is clean. Amazing.

There are a few products every grooming-minded guy should have with him at all times: deodorant, lip balm and right now, a cleansing stick.

The first two are obvious. Luckily, both are quite portable. Until recently, however, I couldn’t find a cleanser that traveled well. I’m a sweaty dude who gets anxious about letting my sweat dry on my face (it's a recipe for breakouts). So cleansing twice a day, first thing in the morning and right before bed, isn't enough to keep my skin in top shape.

For months I've been searching for a cleanser that won't spill in my bag, that I can use at home, and that's small enough without being sample size. Enter Oar + Alps, and their Power Cleansing Face Stick. It’s a solid face wash with a roll-on applicator, like a deodorant. Take a second to visualize that. You rub it all over your face, and then your face is clean. That's kind of amazing.

Plus, it’s half the size of a standard deodorant, so it takes up little real estate in your coat pocket or gym bag.

If I’m finishing up at the gym (I’m a ‘shower at home’ guy), or if I just ate something particularly spicy (my weakness, despite the oncoming waterfall that springs from my face), I bring this little guy along for the ride to help shorten the window of time between sweat show and refreshing facial cleanse.

Again, all of this is to prevent clogged pores and the possibility of pimples. This cleansing stick also helps to clean up the glossy film that sits atop my face after a good sweat. That said, don't use it more than three times a day. You don’t want to dry out your face, which can also lead to breakouts. If you can, moisturize afterwards. (Should I add moisturizer to my list of things you should bring with you? Probably. Yes.)

More good things about this cleansing stick: It’s made with natural ingredients. And it’s good for guys with sensitive skin, too. It removes dead skin cells, and the activated charcoal vacuums up the oils and toxins in your skin. While I'm a big fan of pocket-friendly face wipes for on-the-go cleansing, I'm not a fan of replacing the box of wipes every month. Not to mention, there's significantly less waste, if being eco-friendly is your thing.

But the best part is that it’s fun to apply. Run it across each cheek, draw a nice ‘T’ across your forehead and nose, then fill in the chin. Run a couple fingers under the water, and start scrubbing the cleansing product into your skin. Then splash it off, and you’ll have successfully thwarted any threat to your complexion.
