How To Make a Classic Muffaletta Sandwich for Mardi Gras

Muffaletta Sandwich for Mardi Gras

Of all the famous Mardi Gras foods, nothing beats the savory, spicy, sweet & sour Muffaletta sandwich. We have Italian immigrants to thank for this layered masterpiece that they began making in New Orleans in the 1800s—that's become a must-try dish when in NOLA, just like gumbo, beignets, jambalaya, po' boys and crawfish etouffee.

Comprised of Sicilian sesame (or Italian) bread, garlic aioli, spicy olive filling and a mix of deli meats and cheeses, it's exactly what you want after a day drinking hurricanes while watching the Mardi Gras floats go by.

Here now is everything you need to know in order to make an authentic muffuletta sandwich.
