The Classic New Balance 550 Is Returning in Two Original Colorways

The New Balance 550 model will soon hit shelves in two classic colorways.

The sportswear giant took to its social media platforms confirming that the blue and red-based color schemes from the model’s original 1989 launch are returning next month.

The basketball-turned-lifestyle shoe features a low-cut leather upper in white and is paired with matching overlays on the toe box, mudguard, and heel counter. Both iterations are distinguished by the bold accents seen with the 550 branding at the forefoot, the N logo on the sides, and on the sock liner. Continuing the look is a white foam midsole while the respective color schemes cover the outsole.

The two forthcoming iterations of the New Balance 550 will be released on Dec. 1 at select markets globally. Each pair will come with a $110 price tag.

Sneaker fans started to take notice of the New Balance 550 last month when the shoe received its first reissue last month courtesy of Aime Leon Dore. Unlike the forthcoming releases, the collaborative styles created by the New York City-based fashion label featured a vintage-inspired look seen with the sail-colored accents throughout the shoe.

For fans who aren’t interested in waiting until December to buy a pair, you can pick up the ALD x New Balance 550 collab now on the resale market.

The ALD x New Balance 550 collection is currently available on StockX with the lowest ask of $260 for the red colorway and upwards of $370 for the green pair. The sneaker collab is also available on the secondary platform GOAT with the red iteration costing $299 and the silver pair going for $550.
