Clarence farm hosting Mother’s Day event featuring animals, activities

CLARENCE, N.Y. (WIVB) — From beaks, snouts, and twitching noses, the animals at Kelkenberg Farm in Clarence might be a little nosey on what your Mother’s Day weekend plans are.

If you’re looking for something to do, Kelkenberg Farm owner Charlene Spoth is hoping families are interested in bringing their moms to meet the moms on the farm and learn about farm life.

“You can learn about sheep and wool, you can feel different kinds of wool, ride the ponies, see the great big draft horses, hold the chicks, hold the bunnies, hold the sheep and goats,” Spoth said.

Throughout the weekend, Resurgence Brewery and BlackBird Cider will stop by and the farm will have food, corn hole, and many games that kids can join in on. It’s an annual event they hold where every dollar raised will go towards helping veterans in our community.

“We picked the Veterans One-stop Center because they are boots on the ground right in our community,” Spoth said. “We know that almost 100% of the dollars we give them go directly toward programs for veterans.”

Last year they raised nearly $10,000 for the center and this year, they’re hoping to raise even more.

Families can help show their support by visiting, while also learning about farm life–through these hands-on experiences.

“I love when people can come and learn and enjoy and leave saying, you know what, we had a great time, I learned something today,” Spoth said.

From baby goats to baby bunnies, they have so many animals you can meet. Admission is $12 per person and children under 2 years old are free. Tickets can be found here.
