Clare Crawley is dealing with a lot right now.

When the former Bachelorette star made headlines for leaving the show early to get engaged to contestant Dale Moss, she probably thought it was the start of a happy time in her life. After all, she’d gone on the show looking for love and she’d found it! But many viewers felt she’d been “unfair” to the other men due to her focus on Moss, and the criticism hasn’t stopped even after Tayshia Adams took over as the new Bachelorette.

The negativity is getting to Crawley. “Hi. It’s me, Clare. Not Clare that you have seen edited on your television or social media squares,” she began in an Instagram post from Sunday, November 29. “But the human one with feelings, insecurities, emotions, and a normal life just like you…There are good days and bad days.”

She went on to directly address her position in the spotlight, and the haters that come along with it. “Being on reality TV doesn’t exempt me (or any of us) from that,” she wrote. “I will always do my best to rise above the negativity and find the positive, but I am not superhuman. So when you choose to pass judgments without knowing someone personally or even something as small as a snide comment, please remember just like you, I am simply trying my best.❤️”

Clare Crawley seems to suggest that these bad feelings are coming from outside reactions to her relationship, not from the relationship itself. All of her recent Instagram posts are of happy times with Moss, including spending Thanksgiving with his family. “Here is something that I finally found that makes me so incredibly happy, like, to my core,” she told Bachelorette host Chris Harrison earlier this month, per Us Weekly. “To finally feel this type of love that I have been craving and wanting, I just wish people could be happy for us.”

Here’s hoping the negativity starts to ebb soon. No one wants to spend Christmas protecting a new relationship from trolls.
