DANVILLE, Va. (WFXR) — Looking for a place to cool off during the summer? Danville Parks and Recreation celebrated the opening of the Third Avenue Splash Pad with a ribbon cutting on Thursday, May 23.

Located at Third Avenue Park, the Splash Pad holds multiple activities for families looking for some summertime fun! This includes the splash pad with fountains, squirters, and other water activities, as well as a playground and jungle gym.

“I’d like to extend my deepest gratitude to Danville Parks and Recreation staff, the Site Collaborative design team, and the dedicated community members who made this project possible,” said Bill Sgrinia, Director of Danville Parks, and Recreation.

Third Avenue Parks has been a historic part of the City’s history, with the original welding-splash pool built in 1960. It set the precedent for the family fun opened at the park, which is now available to be enjoyed by all.

The Splash Pad will be open from Memorial Day to Labor Day all days of the week. It will be open Monday-Thursday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Friday-Sunday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
