CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WCIA) — With all rain we’ve been having in Central Illinois, your lawn has probably been growing fast. The City of Champaign wants to remind its homeowners that grass needs to be below eight inches in height.

City officials say there will be inspectors out checking yards. They said lawns that are not maintained will be mowed by a contractor and will be billed to the property owner.

To report an unmaintained property, you can fill out a nuisance complaint form online or contact the Neighborhood Services Department at 217-403-7070 or neighborhoodservices@champaignil.gov.
