Cinoh RTW and Men’s Spring 2022
The sun-drenched hilltop overlooking the sea that Takayuki Chino chose as the backdrop for his spring digital presentation echoed the collection itself, which drew inspiration from nature. The designer, who was a winner of the 2019 Tokyo Fashion Award, has a penchant for effortlessly elegant pieces in relaxed shapes. This most recent season was no exception, but the offering seemed to focus less on trends and more on timelessness.
Main message: Chino used natural fabrics such as cotton and linen to craft shirts, skirts, pants and textured knits in stripes of beige and ivory, with fringe-trimmed edges adding to the natural, undone vibe. He also showed a floral print of bright reds, turquoise and white on a black satin background, which he used on wide pants and oversize shirts for a pajama look. The collection was rounded out with plenty of basics in solid colors, such as black suits featuring wrap-front jackets, tops with double V necks reminiscent of kimono collars, and lightweight, oversize knits.

The result: The collection featured a little style for every situation in a post-pandemic world. The relaxed silhouettes, soft textures and versatile colors would be equally at home in the office, on a plane or out for a casual meal.
