Cindy Crawford Just Wore Versace's Latest Take on Its Iconic Safety Pin Dress

The hardware detail has been a brand staple for decades.

Another day, another absolute slay from Cindy Crawford, because nobody but a supermodel could have an immaculate red carpet record that goes back to the '90s. The super's latest look came last night at the Albies in New York City, the Clooney Foundation for Justice's annual soirée “to shine a protective spotlight on courageous justice defenders who are at risk."

For the occasion, which was, of course, hosted by Amal Clooney and her husband, actor George Clooney, Crawford — who, along with her husband, businessman and tequila aficionado Rande Gerber, is besties with the Oceans 11 star and his cadre of famous friends — wore a purple Versace gown with the Italian label's signature safety pin hardware shimmering on the straps and bodice. The dress, which included details from Versace's latest runway show in Milan (and a silhouette that was shown on fellow supermodel Claudia Schiffer), borrowed from some of Gianni Versace's favorite motifs, including lace, bondage details, and the silver safety pins. Crawford finished her look, which included a super-high thigh-skimming slit, with Jimmy Choo sandals in a bold silver shade and wore her hair in her signature Madison Avenue blowout. The safety pins first made headlines when Elizabeth Hurley wore an LDB held together by gold pins to the premiere of Four Weddings and a Funeral in 1994.

The Albies are named for "anti-apartheid hero Justice Albie Sachs, who received a lifetime achievement award at the inaugural event," the Standard explains. This year, the award went to Dr. Denis Mukwege from the Republic of Congo, who was recognized for "his life-changing work as a gynecologist, treating survivors of wartime sexual violence."

Alicia Keys performed at the event and guests included Daniel Craig and his wife Rachel Weisz, Matt Damon, Meryl Streep, Julianne Moore, and makeup artist Charlotte Tilbury. Other honorees included journalists Niloofar Hamedi and Elahe Mohammadi, who have worked tirelessly to cover the death of Mahsa Amini; Truth Hounds, an organization dedicated to exposing Russian war crimes in the ongoing Ukraine conflict; Thai Lawyers for Human Rights; and the Syrian Center For Media and Freedom of Expression.
