Cindy Crawford Just Gave Her Famous 1991 Oscars Dress a Modern Update

If you were wondering why the streets of L.A. were relatively dim on Tuesday night, that's because your favorite Hollywood swans were shining their light across the globe in Shanghai for the VIP launch party of Omega’s Constellation watch.

Among the throngs were campaign faces Liu Shishi, Alessandra Ambrosio, Nicole Kidman, and O.G. supermodel Cindy Crawford.

The four women wore red gowns for the occasion, each a unique take on the classic LRD — but Crawford’s, in particular, caught our eye.

Though the 52-year-old is no stranger to the red carpet-matching trend — she wowed in a cherry-hued Versace gown at the Met Gala just months ago — we can’t help but feel some serious throwback vibes from the model’s latest dip into the red sea.

The mother of two wore a sleeveless form-fitting column gown with a square neckline and a slit up the front that reminded us of the now iconic plunging Versace dress she wore to the 1991 Oscars when she accompanied her then-boyfriend (and soon-to-be husband) Richard Gere. The dresses are eerily similar, though the ’91 version undoubtedly shows more skin with a stomach-grazing neckline and a slit down the back instead of the front.

Like Jennifer Lopez’s gravity-defying 2000 Grammys gown, Crawford’s red Versace number is one of the few dresses worn throughout history to receive its very own Wikipedia page.

Throw in a Richard Gere-Cindy Crawford reunion and our year is made.
