'Cinderella's Curse' Will Be a Gory Retelling of the Classic Folk Tale

The fictional tale of Princess Cinderella is set to be the next children's story to receive a terrifying twist thanks to filmmaker Louisa Warren.

According to reports, Warren will produce and helm the upcoming title Cinderella's Curse, a horror film based on the folk tale that was modernized for kids by Disney's 1950 version. Plot details are yet to be announced, however it was confirmed that Harry Boxley penned the script and will star Kelly Rian Sanson, Chrissie Wunna and Danielle Scott. Filming will take place next month in the UK.

“This an incredibly unique spin on the Cinderella we all love and know. There are going to be some truly horrific deaths by her hands," Warren told Bloody Disgusting. “I think the gore hounds are in for a treat in my dark retelling.”

Cinderella's Curse was announced just shortly after Dolphin Medien and Red Shadow Studios announced that they are delivering two horror films based on Winnie the Pooh and Peter Pan, entitled Winnie the Pooh: Death House and Peter Pan Goes to Hell.

Elsewhere in entertainment, Joaquin Phoenix will star in Todd Haynes' upcoming NC-17 gay period piece.
