Cinco de Mayo: Where to get discounted food, drinks in honor of the holiday

(NEXSTAR) – This coming Cinco de Mayo, we think-o you might-o want a discounted burrito or two.

Ahead of Sunday’s celebrations, several popular restaurants are offering promotions on Mexican-inspired food and drink, with one even giving out T-shirts to the first customers of the day. Some of these deals extend beyond Cinco de Mayo, just in case you’re hoping to scarf down discounted dishes all weekend long.

Baja Fresh

Customers who belong to Baja Fresh’s loyalty program can redeem a coupon for $5.55 off any order of $20 or more (before tax) when ordering online at Baja Fresh’s official website. The promotion can be redeemed now through May 5, but only with the promo code “BAJACINCO.”

Cinco de Mayo: What’s the history behind the holiday?

Chipotle

Now through May 5, participating Chipotle locations are offering a $0 delivery fee on orders of $10 or more (and below $200) when customers use the promo code “CINCO24” at checkout. The official Terms & Conditions, however, acknowledge that Chipotle charges “higher menu prices” and additional service fees for delivery orders.

Del Taco

From Friday through Sunday, Del Taco customers belonging to the Del Yeah! Rewards program can get a free burrito with any $10 purchase from participating restaurants. The chain is also offering a $0 delivery fee on orders placed through the Del Yeah! Rewards app or DelTaco.com during those same days, though other service fees may apply.

El Pollo Loco

El Pollo Loco is celebrating Cinco de Mayo with deals for its Loco Rewards members on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, with two-for-one Carnitas-Stuffed Quesadillas on Friday (5/3), two free Carnitas Tacos with the purchase of two Carnitas Tacos Combo meals on Saturday (5/4) and two free Shredded Chicken Crunchy Tacos with any in-app order of $10 or more on Sunday (5/5). Participating locations will also be waiving the delivery fee on Cinco de Mayo.

Hooters

From May 3 through May 5, Hooters is offering $5 Dos Equis ‘Big Daddy’ beers, Legendary Ritas or Patron shots at all participating Hooters of America locations (see list here). Customers belonging to the HootsClub Rewards program can also take advantage of a $5 appetizer special, according to the company.

Moe’s Southwest Grill

Members of the Moe Rewards Club can redeem an offer for a $5.55 burrito or bowl at participating Moe’s Southwest Grill locations on May 5. (Certain exclusions apply.) The first 30 customers to order at their local Moe’s location on May 5 will also be gifted a free T-shirt.

On the Border

As part of their “countdown” to Cinco de Mayo, On the Border is offering $5 beers, $5 Cinco Ritas and $5 queso for dine-in customers each day through May 5.

Sheetz

In honor of Cinco de Mayo, all Sheetz locations will be waiving the delivery fee on orders of tacos, taco salads or burritos on May 5 and May 6. (Service fees and “long distance fees for trips over four miles” still apply.) To redeem the offer, customers must add it under the “OFFERZ” tab in their Sheetz apps.

Taco Bell

Taco Bell is offering five Soft or Crunchy Tacos for just $5 total on May 5. The offer must be redeemed in the Taco Bell app ahead of ordering.

Taco John’s

Customers who join the Taco John’s loyalty program by May 4 can redeem an offer for a free Taco Bravo with any $5 purchase on May 5. The deal is valid both in-store (by showing you’re a rewards member) and in the app.
