In case you needed any further proof Cillian Murphy is the man of the moment, the newly minted Oscar winner has become a brand ambassador for Versace.

The Italian fashion house has tapped the Irish actor to be the face of its men’s Icons collection. Launching globally on April 3, the dedicated campaign will see the Oppenheimer star decked out in “key and timeless” pieces from the line. It will be Murphy’s first campaign for the Milanese maison, but not the first time he has donned Versace threads.

The 47-year-old leading man wore a custom Atelier Versace tuxedo with a glitzy gold Sauvereign brooch and an Omega De Ville Prestige wristwatch to the 96th annual Academy Awards on Sunday. He received the Best Actor Oscar for the titular role in Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer. Robert Downey Jr. also scored an Academy Award for his turn in the blockbuster, but he opted for a Saint Laurent ensemble instead of Versace. (The film won seven Oscars, making it the biggest victor of the year.) Atelier Versace also handcrafted a sharp, tailored suit for Matthew McConaughey to wear at Sunday’s soiree.

“I am thrilled that Cillian is joining the Versace family,” said chief creative officer Donatella Versace. “He is a truly exceptional actor and totally deserves his Oscar win. He is magnetic and mesmerizing in front of a camera, and I loved seeing him bring Versace to life.”

Murphy hasn’t exclusively worn Versace designs during the 2024 awards season, though. He sported a dapper Saint Laurent look at the Golden Globes in January, a made-to-measure wool mohair suit by Zenga at the BAFTAs in February, and a pin-striped Saint Laurent number at the Screen Actors Guild Awards last month.

The Peaky Blinders star may switch up his suits but his wrist candy is almost always Omega. He wore a burgundy De Ville Trésor to the Golden Globes, a navy version of the same timepiece to the Governors Awards, and another iteration of the model to the Oscars. He has also been spotted in a Seamaster Aqua Terra Shades and a Seamaster Railmaster.

Luckily, Versace and Omega is a pretty fail-safe combination.
