Cigna, Regeneron, New York Times and Ferrari post earnings beats

Here’s a look at some of the companies the Yahoo Finance team will be watching for you.

Cigna (CI) tops our list. The health insurer beat big on earnings and net income for its first quarter. The company’s CEO is forecasting accelerated growth for the year as it gets closer to wrapping up a merger with prescription manager Express Scripts (ESRX).

Also in health care, Regeneron (REGN) beating on earnings and net income for its first quarter. The biotech company reported net sales of its flagship eye drug Eylea grew 15% in the U.S. and 20% globally. It also cut a deal with Express Scripts (ESRX) to make a key cholesterol medication more affordable.

The New York Times (NYT) reporting this morning as well. The newspaper publisher beat on earnings and revenue for its first quarter. It also added 139,000 digital-only subscribers. That’s a nearly 26% boost from the same period a year ago. Despite this growth, the company did report a 6% drop in digital ad sales.

And Ferrari (RACE) is speeding ahead. The sports car maker beat on earnings for its first quarter and confirmed its outlook for the year. The Italy-based car company attributed part of its boost to higher sales of its 12-cylinder models.
