Ciara Redefines the High Ponytail—Just in Time For Fall

If warm weather beauty is a study in insouciance—sea-sprayed waves, unadorned skin, and a general effortlessness—colder temps tend to bring the opposite. As the temperatures begin their annual dive, above-neck looks are becoming slightly sleeker in turn. Case in point: Ciara, who turned heads in New York this morning in a cultivated half-up hairstyle reminiscent of last year’s I Dream of Jeannie trend.

To frame her flawless complexion, Ciara opted for an immaculate updo pulled tightly at the crown and bound high on the head, its base wrapped to offer a wash of polish. The pop star's ironed mane shone with reflected light, a brilliance mirrored by a touch of metallic eyeshadow and a swipe of lipgloss. A cherry red manicure completed the pulled-together look, as well as the accompanying lesson. Gone (for now) are the days of mussed hair and naked nails. With November's impending arrival, the time is just right for refinement.
