Road racing, especially the iconic events like the Giro d’Italia, Tour de France and Paris-Roubaix often are spoken about in strictly serious terms.

Sure, once cyclocross season rolls around, there’s a little room for levity amongst riders and promoters, but during the classics, it is all business.

Except this year, the Giro d’Italia seems to be making an extreme exception, as both the racers and the promoters seem to be enjoying moments of hilarity even during the race.

Case in point, this morning’s wakeup call for Remco Evenepoel, tweeted by the race organizers with the invite to ‘caption this’:

The riders are getting goofier than ever, with the Jayco AlUla team literally ‘reeling in’ Trek Segafredo's Mads Pederson:
