Christine Quinn Says Filming 'Selling Sunset' With Christian Richard Is "Awkward" and "Not Reality"

From Good Housekeeping

Season 3 of Selling Sunset has returned with the one and only Christine Quinn. The Oppenheim Group realtor has earned a reputation for bringing the drama, and she doesn't disappoint in the latest installment of the popular Netflix series.

In season 2, after coming back from vacation, fans were surprised to discover Christine had brought home more than just a tan. While stepping off a private jet and making her way to the office, the 31-year-old revealed that she’s gotten engaged to a man named Christian Richard.

Although fans were able to piece together info about him throughout the second season, there’s plenty more to know about Christine’s now-husband:

Christian is a retired software engineer.

"Christian is big in the tech world,” Christine said in the season 2 premiere. “He went to MIT, and he’s a software engineer and has worked for multiple companies, multiple development projects. And he’s retired."

In case you're curious, the 41-year-old software engineer is estimated to have a net worth of $20 million.

Christian met Christine through a friend.

Their romance began in an unexpected way.

Christine told Refinery29: "My girlfriend went on a date with him and she's like, 'Hey, I went on a date with this guy who I really don't like. I know you're single, you may want to go out with him.'"

And so she did, and Christine and Christian immediately felt there was chemistry between them. At their engagement party, Christian shared sweet words about his future wife and revealed more about their first encounter.

"Christine, I met you in Beverly Hills not even a year ago, and I absolutely fell head over heels in love with you,” he said. “We had dinner, she was wearing this red dress, and we hit it off in the car. We had instant banter which is really special, you don’t get that too often. I pursued her, and she’s a tough catch. But here we are now, she’s amazing, complements me perfectly, and we’re building a life together."

Christian bought a house for them.

According to Christine, about a month and a half after the couple started dating, she showed Christian houses. At the time, she had a listing for a four-bedroom, six-bathroom property in the Hollywood Hills, spanning 5,917 square-feet.

Fast forward, and Christian bought the $5 million home for them to live in, which also earned Christine a whopping $150,000 commission.

"I would sit in that open house every Sunday and would picture myself sitting in that house, getting coffee with my husband, and I now live in the house that I envisioned myself living in," Christine said.

Christian didn’t know Christine was on a show.

When she spoke to Refinery29, Christine said that she’s originally from Texas and moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career in modeling and acting. Although season 1 of Selling Sunset was an instant Netflix hit, she chose to be “super quiet about it” with Christian. It wasn't until the two traveled together and fans approached the Selling Sunset cast member that he learned more.

Luckily, Christian was fine with it. He even stepped out of his comfort zone and agreed to appear on the show.

“After we got back to L.A., we got picked up for another season and I asked him, ‘Do you want to be on it?’ He said, ‘Oh my gosh, this is so not me.’ He’s really, really shy, but decided to do it for me,” she told the outlet. “He’s on the show quite a bit and, bless his heart, he tries, but [filming] is a really awkward thing. It’s not organic in any way. It’s not reality in any way.”

Christian and Christine are officially married.

Season 2 of Selling Sunset focused on fellow realtor Mary Fitzgerald getting married, but season 3 of the show spotlights Christine and Christian’s wedding.

After meeting and getting engaged on Valentine’s Day, the couple walked down the aisle on December 15, 2019. Held at a downtown Los Angeles cathedral, the “gothic winter wonderland-themed wedding” was attended by 75 guests, including Christine's Oppenheim Group family.

Christine donned a custom black wedding dress and ruby-red Christian Louboutins. The reception was decorated in red and black, like the duo's engagement party, and included a cake that “appeared to bleed” when cut.

“We’re so similar in all the ways that matter,” she told People of her husband. “We are both creative, driven, entrepreneurial, and have always lived by our own rules.”
