Christina Hendricks, 48, Flaunts Her Sculpted Legs In A Rare IG Swimsuit Pic

Some celebrities are all about the bathing suit pics, and more power to them—it’s just not usually Christina Hendricks’ thing. But the Mad Men alum just casually shared a pic of herself in the coolest one-piece swimsuit—along with a slightly terrifying story.

First, the suit: The 48-year-old star dropped a bunch of pics from a trip the the ocean in Dublin, including one that shows her in a gorgeous maroon suit that put her sculpted legs and toned arms on full display.

But that's not all. Christina also shared the story behind the photos, which involved a whole lot of fear-conquering, and a very rough ocean experience.

“Those of you who know me well, know I have a fear of the ocean. But bigger than that fear, is the fear of not doing something extraordinary because I’m too scared,” she wrote in the caption. “So, I decided I would go to the 40 ft. in Dublin and jump into the Irish Sea.” (The Forty Foot is a historic bathing spot in Ireland, BTW.)

But Christina shared that before she could do it herself, the ocean dragged her in “scraping my leg, plunging me under water with a mouth full of salt water as I was gasping for breath, and then pummeling me over and over again with waves that made it almost impossible to swim back to land.”

While that sounds seriously scary, Christina noted that she still conquered her fear. “It was exhilarating. I survived. And I might even do it again,” she said. “But better planning next time…. I’m proud of myself.”

Christina is definitely super strong right now—physically and mentally. So, if you're wondering what she been doing to care for her health, you wouldn't be the first to ask.

The first thing to know is that Christina hasn’t shared a ton about her workouts lately, but she previously told WebMD that she used to like to get her sweat on with her then-husband, Geoffrey Arend. “We try to work out together because it makes it so much more fun—and it makes the time go by quickly,” she said.

Christina told E! News that she likes to work out on the elliptical, along with some free weights. Also in the mix: Bar Method, which uses your bodyweight for resistance-based exercises.

And the actress just leads an active lifestyle in general, too. Christina likes to get her steps in by walking her adorable dogs. Brisk walks are a great, low-impact way to get your body moving and raise your heart rate.
