Christina El Moussa Opens Up About Painful Divorce

From Country Living

Christina El Moussa is in a great place right now. She has continued to work on her hit HGTV show, Flip or Flop, with ex-husband Tarek El Moussa, and she and boyfriend Ant Anstead celebrated their six-month anniversary this past May. Christina also recently announced that she's getting her own HGTV show, titled Christina on the Coast.

But the mom of two has been through difficult times, and she's been open about her struggles. In the latest issue of People, Christina shares how her split from Tarek took a toll on her. "I felt like I was drowning," she said. "I was doing whatever I could to stay above water and just get through the day."

After the couple announced their separation in 2016, there were concerns from fans about what would happen to Flip or Flop and their California home. "In the aftermath, a lot of people were thinking, ‘What’s going to happen?’ Tarek and I were so tied together on everything: real estate, the show, our children, our house," she said. "It was so stressful, and everyone was worried that it was going to explode."

While Christina has described the process of filming Flip or Flopwith her ex-husband as "beyond awkward," the former husband and wife have found a way to move on. "Somehow we managed to build something even bigger than we had before," she said. "I thought of this year like a rebuild. So I’m starting from scratch. I’m moving, I have a new TV show, a new boyfriend-there’s a lot of projects going on. I’m just so happy, and for the first time in a long time, I feel at peace, which is such a good feeling."
