On Sunday, Christina El Moussa served as one of four panelist at the 2017 Real Estate Wealth Expo in Chicago. The 33-year-old opened up about her work relationship with Flip or Flop co-star - and now ex - Tarek and how the two got their start.

Christina kicked off the conversation by telling the audience about her and Tarek's humble beginnings. When the two first began flipping houses, Christina said, "we had no money" - the couple made $34,000 on their first home flip in Santa Ana, California. Christina reminisced on the beginnings of the HGTV series after their business took off, saying, "Tarek told me we were going to get a TV show. He made me follow him around with a little video camera that we borrowed. And we did all the work ourselves."

Christina also talked about her relationship with her kids. She and her daughter Taylor recently sported bikinis for a "Mommy and Me" swimwear campaign for L*Space - while some people praised Christina's positivity post-split, others found the mommy-daughter photo shoot controversial. Christina was quick to shut down haters, and at Sunday's expo, she made it especially clear that her kids come first.

"I don't work at night," she said. "I shut my phone off, I don't check it. I do my routine with the kids. I don't look at it for two hours. It's all about being present in the moment with them. That's one of the things we do."

Tarek and Christina now work together to co-parent their kids and film their popular show.
