The past year has been an exciting whirlwind for HGTV star Christina Anstead, formerly known as Christina El Moussa. The Flip or Flop co-host has toted some major life changes with new locks, a new husband, a new baby boy on the way, and, most exciting for home improvement fans, a new TV series of her very own.

Christina on the Coast is the first solo project for the mother of two (almost three!), who's shared the design spotlight with ex-husband Tarek El Moussa for seven consecutive seasons, even after their very public split in 2016.

"As you guys know, it's been a challenging couple of years for me," Christina confessed during the Television Critics Association Winter Press Tour. She added that "when the divorce was going on and everything was happening, I didn't know where my career was going to be."

The show feels like a natural progression, both professionally and personally, as she is also starting a new life with husband Ant Anstead and their blended family. From the plot to the premiere, here's everything we know so far about the upcoming program.

What is Christina on the Coast about?

According to HGTV, the eight-episode series will hone in on Christina’s growing design business in southern California. She’ll continue to put her house-flipping prowess to the test, this time giving properties a more high-end makeover.

"Design is my favorite part of the house-flipping process and I can’t wait to be able to now work directly with clients and create a space they’ve always dreamed of having," the titular star explained in the press release.

Christina's first on-screen assignment during the premiere? Her close friend Cassie Zebisch's home. Not only did she breathe new life into her longtime pal's kitchen and living room, but the HGTV star also surprised her with an immaculate outdoor patio space. As for the remaining slots, she'll continue to assist fellow local homeowners in updating their residences.

Throughout the series, we'll also get to see different sides of Christina's on-screen personality and producing prowess. "This is the authentic me, unfiltered, just how I want to do a show," she admitted during an interview with People. "I’m an executive producer. I help write every script. I approve everything. It’s just been an incredible experience."

It's also going to get really personal.

The breakout series won’t be all roll-up-your-sleeves renovations-viewers can also expect a more candid component, too. The cameras will delve into Christina’s behind-the-scenes life with her two kids, Brayden and Taylor, who she shares with Tarek, as well as Ant and his children, Amelie and Archie.

"You may know me from flipping houses," Christina said in an HGTV press release. "But there’s a lot more sides to me than that. I’m a mom with a new business venture, a new man, and a new point of view."

After moving from Yorba Linda, CA to Newport Beach, Christina's own new humble abode will be the subject of her design treatment, as well. An HGTV press release notes that one special episode will feature a full pool and backyard transformation, complete with a water slide, outdoor kitchen, and bar.

Will Ant Anstead be on the show?

Speaking of personal, the Christina on the Coast star wed Ant, host of Discovery channel’s Wheeler Dealers, last December. And, talking to Entertainment Tonight, Christina confirmed that her new spouse will get his fair share of screen time. That’s not all-their elusive engagement and winter wedding also made the cut.

"You’re getting really high design, but you’re also getting a glimpse of my personal life, for example, the engagement, the nutrition book I’m writing," she told the publication. "Yeah, he’s in it-the engagement, the wedding, the whole thing."

Ant already appeared a handful of times during the Christina on the Coast premiere, which included a cameo of the couple seeking out the perfect spot to call home for their soon-to-be family of seven. On the same episode, the series' star also shared intimate new details about the start of their relationship.

"I met Ant through a mutual friend, and it was basically love at first sight," she explained on camera. The rest, as they say, is history, and the couple's instantaneous connection came out to play during the premiere as they shared a few tender moments. We can't wait to see more aww-worthy instances between these lovebirds throughout the rest of the season.

Are Christina and Tarek El Moussa still filming?

Yes, Flip or Flop must go on! Co-hosts Christina and Tarek teamed up once again for season eight, which launches on HGTV this spring. Speaking to Entertainment Tonight, Christina explained that fans can expect a "lot more Tarek design," but she couldn't confirm whether this would be the beloved show’s final lap. "Everything's sort of up in the air," she told the news outlet. "So we'll see how everything does this summer and go from there."

Regardless of Flip or Flop's fate, though, Christina's breakout series is a breath of fresh air. "I’m excited to do my own thing," she told People. "It’s going to be fun and light-hearted. I feel like it’s a win-win."
