While the future of Christina Applegate's acting career is uncertain, it's obvious that her past work is worth celebrating.

The star, who was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 2021 and has been very open about her struggles while living with the disorder, made a rare appearance at an industry event at which she was honored.

Applegate attended Variety's TV FYC Fest, posing for photos with friend and former co-star Jean Smart. The 71-year-old played Applegate's character Sam's mother in the sitcom Samantha Who? in the late 2000s, a role that won her an Emmy.

At the event, Smart presented Applegate with the 2023 TV Fest Legacy Award. While receiving the award, the actress spoke a little about her career and whether or not she would act again in the future.

Applegate said, while getting a little emotional, "Thank you for being supportive and understanding as I journey through this new part of my life, not knowing if I'm going to continue on to act anymore."

"I don't know if I can. I'd love to, I do miss it. I miss it so much. I just don't know, as a daily struggle to walk... but I'm so happy that I ended it with a show like Dead To Me," she went on.

Applegate has previously stated that she received her multiple sclerosis diagnosis while filming the third and final season of the Netflix comedy co-starring Linda Cardellini.

While Netflix offered to end production early, Applegate pushed through to complete the project for herself and the fans.
