From House Beautiful

On the latest episode of Christina on the Coast, Christina Anstead is tasked with a pretty nerve-wracking challenge—redesigning the kitchen of a good friend. We meet 'Pando,' as Christina refers to him, and his wife Michelle who just moved into his home with her kids. Just as the newlyweds are trying to blend their families, they also want to blend their styles. But before we dive into their kitchen and living room reno, let's talk about Pando. If he looks familar to you, there might be a reason why.

Who Is Christina Anstead's Friend 'Pando?'

Michael Pando, who Christina refers to by last name, is a producer in Los Angeles. She mentions that she worked with him on Flip or Flop, which is true— he was the director and producer of the show from 2014 to 2017, according to IMBD. She also mentions that he was the third person she told about her most recent pregnancy with Ant Anstead—even before her parents. Considering Pando was one of the main men on set during Christina and Tarek El Moussa's divorce, it makes sense how these two became such fast friends. Both Christina and Tarek have posted pictures on Instagram with Michael Pando in the past.

But before he joined the Flip or Flop family, he was the producer of Dancing With the Stars, from 2006 to 2013. He also produced a few episodes of House Hunters, Hitched or Ditched, Hammer Heads, and more. You can follow him on Instagram here.

Pando Express

Now that we have a little more information on Pando, let's recap season 2, episode 2 of Christina on the Coast, which is titled 'Pando Express' (kudos to whoever made that pun!). Now that wife Michelle is all settled in, the truth starts to come out—the couple has conflicting design perspectives. Already, Michelle has moved her fish tanks into the living room and Pando was forced to part with his pool table. In terms of style, Michelle tells Christina she wants bold and bright colors, but Pando is a sucker for all things modern.

Christina sure has got some work to do, especially figuring out where to put these fish. But the biggest conflict of the episode appears to be deciding on tile for the backsplash. Christina actually brings the pair to the tile store with her to really nail down a style. Somehow Pando wants the tile to be cutting edge, but also white and simple—a challenge indeed.

Regardless, Christina is able to pull it all together by the end, although it required a lot of out-of-the-box thinking. Some notable feats of the remodel include: three different colored cabinets in the kitchen, an eccentric backsplash composed of two completely different tiles, and creating an aquarium display in between the kitchen and dining room. Ultimately, her bold style choices paid off, and she was able to make this house a home for Michelle. You can check out the whole remodel here. And if you missed last week's episode, we recapped it here.
