Christina Anstead Reveals Why Her Look Changed So Much After Season 1 of 'Flip or Flop'
We've all seen Christina Anstead's best friend, hairstylist, and makeup artist Shannon Houston appear on a few episodes of the designer's new HGTV show, Christina on The Coast. But the story behind how their friendship actually started is even funnier than we'd thought—and it has to do with some eyelash extensions gone wrong.
Shannon and Christina's friendship came up during the designer's new behind the scenes show called Christina on The Coast: Unfiltered, where Christina, Shannon, best friend and publicist Cassie Zebisch, and HGTV moderator Ben Balthazar get together to deliver the hot gossip behind each episode.
On Unfiltered, it was revealed that Christina and Shannon actually met thanks to Christina's ex husband, Tarek El Moussa—his sister, to be exact.
"I've known Christina for about six years now, since before Flip or Flop ever started," Shannon revealed. "We met because I worked with Tarek's sister for a long time." After Christina finished filming season one of Flip or Flop, Tarek's sister passed along the makeup artist's number to Christina. "I remember she texted me," Shannon recalled, "And she said, 'Everyone's making fun of my lashes, and I'm so bad at my makeup. Can you please help me? I don't know what lashes to buy!'"

The pair laughed as they recalled her early Flip or Flop days.
"All I would do is, like, stick on these lash extensions and not even put mascara on and put on a little powder," Christina said. "That was my go-to—it took about five minutes."
Ever since the duo teamed up to improve Christina's hair and makeup game, the two have became fast friends. Christina often promotes Shannon's beauty line, Pink Dust Cosmetics, and Shannon actively supports the HGTV star's design work.
