It’s beginning to look a lot like Christie’s-mas! Just in time for the holidays, the esteemed auction house is readying for the most glorious sale of the year — handbags and accessories! Taking place tomorrow, December 11 in New York, the lot will including 223 of the most luxurious handbags you ever will see. There are rare and vintage pieces by Louis Vuitton, Chanel, Judith Leiber, and, of course, a hearty helping of Hermès.

So have you been good this year? If so the bidding for the lowest-priced pieces will start at $1,000 and is expected to go up to $150,000 for the Grand Poobah of them all, the purple Hermès crocodile Birkin with a diamond and gold lock. (Talk about wearable art!) There are also Chanel flap bags and box clutches, Vuitton’s famed teddy bear purse, and Leiber’s crystalized creatures in the form of blingy minaudières.

We can just envision the well-heeled ladies of uptown waving their paddles in a fury to bid on their must-have item of the moment. Or maybe it will look more like that SNL skit of “Oprah’s Favorite Things.” Either way, if you’re planning to shop or are just looking, this is a collection to behold!
