Christie Brinkley Throws It Back With Bikini Bike Ride Snapshot

Christie Brinkley loves a throwback!

The model is looking back on a decades-old photoshoot taken in her favorite place, St. Barths, and she's sharing the memory with her thousands of Instagram followers.

In a photo shared on the social media platform, Brinkley sits on the seat of a red bicycle, her right foot on the ground for balance and the other propped up on the frame, showing off her lean legs. Her left elbow rests on her left knee, the same hand resting against the side of her head as she tilts her face up toward the sky, soaking up the sun.

For the shoot, she wore white bikini bottoms underneath a blue utility vest, along with black canvas sneakers, white golf gloves, and a "Brooklyn"-emblazoned baseball cap.

Though her eyes are closed in the shot, taken by the late Patrick Demarchelier for Harper's Bazaar, she appears serene, a body of water and a small island making up a picturesque backdrop.

"Throwing it back to a shoot for @harpersbazaarus in my favorite location, St Barths with one of my favorite photographers @patrickdemarchelier," she captioned the photo, going on to reflect on the consequences of the modeling industry back in the day, offering a refreshing level of candor.

"Looking back from here it’s hard to believe I was worried about my weight. I was considered athletic, which was an industry way of saying I wasn’t skinny which in my business can really weigh on a model," she noted. "While that’s punny, lol, that could be a real negative back then … but I was lucky because things were starting to change, and it also meant I got all the outdoorsy shoots I loved."

She continued, "Give me beaches and mountains over gowns in studios any day! Ahhh I can still feel that warm sun and the breeze beckoning us to go for a windsurf as soon as we get the shots!"

Many were shocked to hear the way the industry viewed Brinkley and other models with similar body types.

"Can you even fathom how ludicrous those weight 'ideals' were (are)?! god help us," one comment read.

"Yes. You stood out like no one’s business. You exuded athletic, healthy look. You still do!❤️🙌," another follower complimented.

"I was happy to see you representing the athletic girls when I was in my 20’s..." someone else wrote in part.

"Gorgeous photo! We as women are so hard on ourselves. Do we ever really get over it? I sure hope one day I will. Thank you for sharing your experience. ❤️," another wrote.

Other commenters thought the throwback photo was a more recent one of Brinkley's daughter, Sailor Cook, the two lookalikes having been mistaken for each other on more than one occasion.

Earlier this week, the mother-daughter duo enjoyed a sweet dinner date in New York City, hitting the dog park ahead of their meal and sharing a glimpse of their evening with fans.

"You two are pure sunshine! ☀️☀️," one fan declared.
