What were you doing in May 1992? Christie Brinkley was on the cover of Fitness magazine rocking a snakeskin print leotard and reminding the masses to work out. 30 years later, not much has changed. Over the weekend, the 68-year-old re-shared the cover on Instagram, encouraging fans to get moving.

“Throwing it back to May 1992 but the message is still the same for today!” she captioned the post. “For a fit mind, body or spirit make exercise a happy part of your life. Bike, Hike, Dance, jump on your @totalgymdirect, whatever you choose, make it fun so you want to do it five times a week!”

She concluded: “Mix it up, get your heart beating a happy beat! 💜”

Fans loved the memory. “I remember buying this ... you have helped me be of good health for years!” one person commented. “Gorgeous then & now! 👏🙌,” another added. “Gorgeous!! Thanks for the inspiration today!” someone else wrote.

Brinkley has touted the Total Gym for decades and still faithfully breaks a sweat on the versatile machine—when she can’t do so in the open air of nature, that is. She has previously said on Instagram that she prefers to stay mobile in a “natural setting,” be it via swimming, biking, or the like. “I always try to get my exercise in fun ways, because if it’s not fun you probably won’t stick with it,” she wrote.

But on a rainy day, the Total Gym always comes in handy. It was also her go-to at-home workout during COVID-19 lockdowns. “If I don’t get the exercise I need, I really feel it! My body just instantly rusts!” she wrote under a video of her Total Gym routine in April 2020. “Gotta grease the joints ..so in order to avoid having to have the couch surgically removed from my derrière 😉, I decided to drag my Total Gym out into the sunshine to get both vit D and some much-needed exercise.”

She continued: “Quarantine is to keep us safe so I’m going to try use my time to hopefully come out of quarantine a little stronger. One thing I’m sure of, I am definitely full of gratitude for each and every day blessed with health 🙌🏼.”

Even despite having a hip replacement in 2020, Brinkley continues to persevere with a positive attitude. And that’s why, even 30 years after she took the fitness modeling world by storm, she’s still an inspiration today.

Some might even say she’s just getting started. We can’t wait to see what the 68-year-old posts next!
