  • Christie Brinkley, 65, will no longer compete in season 28 of Dancing With The Stars after suffering an injury.

  • Brinkley reportedly broke her arm and wrist and will need surgery, so her daughter Sailor Brinkley will take her place on the show.

  • Dancing With The Stars premieres tonight on ABC.

Christie Brinkley fans will be sad to learn that the 65-year-old actress and model will no longer be competing in season 28 of ABC's Dancing With The Stars.

According to a statement from BBC Studios and ABC, "Brinkley suffered injuries which required surgery to her wrist and arm" during rehearsals, resulting in her withdrawal from the competition. Good Morning America released a clip of the fall to Twitter, in case any DWTS fans were skeptical that she may have just gotten cold feet.

In the video, you can see the "Ballroom Bombshell" trip over her partner's foot and land on her wrist, then writhe in pain. Because Brinkley's injury will require surgery, the star's 21-year-old daughter, Sports Illustrated model Sailor Brinkley-Cook, will step in and take her mom's place on the show.

“Showbiz is all about getting a break, and Sailor and I both got one on Dancing with the Stars this season,” Brinkley said of her injury to Good Morning America. “Sailor joined the cast when I got mine … ouch somebody stop me, it hurts to laugh!”

“We wish Christie a full and speedy recovery and look forward to seeing her in the audience, whenever possible, proudly supporting Sailor,” ABC's statement continued.

In an interview with GMA, Sailor said that she's more than happy to step in and starting prepping immediately for tonight's premiere.

"I'm doing this mostly for my mom! I just want to make her happy and make her proud," she told Good Morning America. "She loved doing this, she loves dancing and she loves performing and getting hurt was her worst nightmare."

"I felt this high of just attacking something I was so afraid of and it felt like something I need to do," she continued. "I think it will change me."

Brinkley is the first contestant from this season's group to exit the show. Other celebrity contestants include The Bachelorette's Hannah Brown, Queer Eye's KAramo Brown, The Office's Kate Flannery, Fifth Harmony's Ally Brooke, former NBA star Lamar Odom, Dawson's Creek star James Van Der Beek, The Supremes's Mary Wilson, country singer . Lauren Alaina, and former White House Press secretary Sean Spicer.

Dancing with the Stars premieres at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
