During an appearance on the Jan. 18 episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Chrissy Teigen admitted that her 6-year-old son Miles seemingly refuses to eat vegetables. And parents everywhere sighed, nodding in agreement and understanding.

Teigen appeared with celebrity chef David Chang to promote their upcoming Freeform series, Chrissy & Dave Dine Out, and naturally the trio talked all things food. Teigen’s husband, John Legend, was in the audience with the couple’s eldest daughter, 7-year-old Luna, when host Jimmy Kimmel asked the mom of five if her kids are “good eaters.”

“Well, my daughter and John are here, they’re in the first row,” she said proudly. “I always say, she goes to The Voice all the time and she sees daddy work but she’s never really come to see me so we snatched her up from school and she came to see this. But Luna is the best eater. Luna is amazing, she eats salads, vegetables.”

But her younger brother Miles seemingly isn’t about that veggie vibe. “Miles has still not had a vegetable,” she admitted. “He is six, almost. He accidentally ate a broccoli floret in a fried rice and was so upset about it.”

Kimmel then admitted that his 9-year-old daughter Jane is also a picky eater, eating “barely a fruit,” adding, “We can barely get her to eat anything. But hearing that you guys can’t do that too, I don’t know why it makes me feel better.”

In the quest to have Miles try some veggies, Teigen shared that she once “went on a zoom call with the school where they talk about picky eaters” and they revealed that “it’s the only thing they really have control over at that age so he uses it.”

“It’s so funny they say that kids have no control over anything but they seem to have control over every aspect, every minute of our lives,” Kimmel quipped in response.

Plenty of parents will relate to Teigen’s conundrum, especially if you’ve ever begged or bargained with a kid to just try a fruit or veggie. Of course, in the grand scheme of things, as long as they’re eating something, they’ll turn out just fine and might even grow to love food grown from the ground someday.

Teigen and Legend share Luna and Miles, as well as daughter Esti, 1, and 7-month-old son Wren. They’re also parents to their late son, Jack, who they lost in 2020.

Here’s hoping they have an easier go of it with their two youngest kids, because we’re sure she’s cooking up plenty of deliciousness in the kitchen every single day, and it’d be a shame for them to miss out. But kids are gonna do what kids are gonna do, right?
