Chrissy Teigen is spreading awareness about life-saving medical care, and the biggest regrets she has after her abortion with 20-week-old baby Jack.

In Oct. 2020, the Cravings author shared that she and husband John Legend lost their third child Jack. “We are shocked and in the kind of deep pain you only hear about, the kind of pain we’ve never felt before,” Teigen wrote along with two black-and-white photographs of her holding the baby. “We were never able to stop the bleeding and give our baby the fluids he needed, despite bags and bags of blood transfusions. It just wasn’t enough.”

Then in Sept. 2022, she opened up about how the procedure to remove her baby was technically an abortion.

“Two years ago, when I was pregnant with Jack, John and my third child, I had to make a lot of difficult and heartbreaking decisions,” she said at Propper Daley’s “A Day of Unreasonable Conversation” summit. “It became very clear around halfway through that he would not survive, and that I wouldn’t either without any medical intervention. Let’s just call it what it was: It was an abortion.”

“An abortion to save my life for a baby that had absolutely no chance,” Teigen continued. “And to be honest, I never, ever put that together until, actually, a few months ago.”

She revealed that after the Supreme Court overturned Roe vs. Wade, she felt sorry for “those people” who would have to make heart-wrenching decisions about their pregnancies. Her husband pointed out that they were “those people.”

“I fell silent, feeling weird that I hadn’t made sense of it that way,” Teigen said. “I told the world we had a miscarriage, the world agreed we had a miscarriage, all the headlines said it was a miscarriage. And I became really frustrated that I didn’t, in the first place, say what it was, and I felt silly that it had taken me over a year to actually understand that we had had an abortion.”

In a new interview with Hysteria, Teigen opened up about how she felt about going public with her abortion and her biggest “regrets.”

“I went public saying that I didn’t even know I had had an abortion when I had miscarried our 20-week-old Jack,” Teigen says in the video. “It was hard going public with something like that and being publicly ignorant of your own body. I did not know it was abortion.”

“I don’t mind speaking about it. It doesn’t make me anxious. It just feels — because it still feels so unreal and out-of-body,” she added.

Teigen also shared her “regrets” from the day of her miscarriage and abortion. “How it happened so fast,” Teigen explains. “I wish I had, you know, taken a look longer. I wish I had held him longer,” she says, taking a moment to choke beak tears. “So that sticks with me.” She’s blinking back tears reliving the moment, and our hearts are breaking for her. We can only imagine the pain of losing a baby and the shock she must have been in during that moment.

In addition to baby Jack, Teigen and Legend are parents to Luna, 7, Miles, 5, Esti, 9 months, and Wren, 4 months.

These other famous parents have been open about suffering miscarriages.
