With the Super Bowl 2023 over and out, fans witnessed many high-stakes moments from the night. But over on social media, folks may have missed a special behind-the-scenes moment between Chris Stapleton and one of music's most famous artists.

Ahead of the country star's Super Bowl National Anthem performance, he received a surprise from Creedence Clearwater Revival co-founder John Fogerty. Sharing photos from the backstage moment on Twitter, the singing legend revealed the unique reason why their encounter was meaningful. John not only voiced how much Chris' version of a song he wrote impacted him, but it led him to share a special piece of news as well.

"Look who I ran into before his performance at the Super Bowl," John wrote on February 12. "What an amazing talent. I am thrilled and honored he recorded a song I wrote, 'Joy of My Life.' I got to tell him what that meant to me. Valentine's Day I will be releasing a new arrangement of my song."

For those wondering, John initially released "Joy of My Life" back in 1997 on his album Blue Moon Swamp. More than a decade later, Chris recorded a cover in 2020 for his LP Starting Over, but it picked up traction when he re-released it as a single in March 2022. Now, John has resurfaced his original song with a live version.

When fans saw the interaction between the musicians on social media, they immediately began sharing their thoughts. What's more, they had a special request for the two.

"Love him, too, @John_Fogerty! Chris Stapleton is the only other person on the planet who could get close to the emotion of that song and do it justice. Y'all need to do a tour together! ❤️," one person replied on Twitter.

"A heck of a lot of talent in one shot here," another agreed.

"Would be a thrill to see you two in concert together," a different user added.

If fans play their cards right, it could be the start of quite a musical matchup.
