Rumors of an English language adaptation of Thomas Vinterberg's Oscar-winning Another Round have been flying about for years, but it seems the project is underway with an unexpected director at the helm.

Chris Rock has made a deal to develop and direct the adaptation, Deadline reports, with Jennifer Davisson and Leonardo DiCaprio producing for Appian Way and Brad Weston and Collin Creighton producing under Makeready.

Rock has a few directing credits under his belt, having directed three feature films: Head of State, I Think I Love My Wife and Top Five. Now, he steps in as head of the adaptation that scored critical and commercial acclaim.

Another Round starred Mads Mikkelsen as Martin, who - along with his three fellow teacher friends - runs an experiment to see how consuming alcohol daily will affect his life socially and professionally.

Thomas Bo Larsen, Magnus Millang and Lars Ranthe starred opposite Mikkelsen in the film, which scored a certified fresh 93% from critics on Rotten Tomatoes.

Little more is out there about how the English language version will approach the source material, but DiCaprio was the first to lay the foundations when he took on the project in 2021.

DiCaprio was rumored to star in Mikkelsen's role, but whether that is still the plan is to be confirmed.
