Chris Pratt Confirms 'Divorce Sucks'
Chris Pratt gave a very genuine response when asked by Entertainment Weekly about how he's been coping after his divorce from his wife of eight years, Anna Faris. The two separated in July 2017, shortly after his new Jurassic World film wrapped production (which was how EW stayed topical with the personal question.) “Divorce sucks,” Pratt told the outlet bluntly. “But at the end of the day, we’ve got a great kid who’s got two parents who love him very much. And we’re finding a way to navigate this while still remaining friends and still being kind to one another. It’s not ideal, but yeah, I think both of us are actually probably doing better.”
While Faris has spoken about her and Pratt's friendship since the breakup and how her divorces have generally made her question the point of marriage, Pratt hasn't really. He did praise his wife during her first big post-split appearance at the Emmys. "I know she did great," Pratt said, via TMZ. "Anna did an amazing job, man. She rules. Her and Allison [Janney], they both looked great. Go watch [Faris's show] Mom on CBS."
Faris talked to Dax Shepard at the end of March about the pressure she and Pratt felt being one of Hollywood's favorite couples. “Chris and I did talk about [it]. We got, like on the Twitter feed, yes like ‘Love is dead’ and ‘relationship goals,'” she started. “I think what we were also guilty of-although we had an unbelievable marriage and we have a great friendship now, we love our son to death, and I’m really proud of that because I’m not sure I did that well the first time [Faris was married before to Ben Indra from 2004-2008]. But I do think we obviously cultivated something, and it was rewarding for a while. It was like ‘Oh, People seem to think we got all this shit all right.’”
She also admitted that the two had made their relationship a bit performative publicly and part of their brand. "We intentionally cultivated this idea of like, ‘Look at this beautiful family.’ There were so many moments that were like that but of course just like anything on social media, you don’t post like, ‘Where the fuck is the toilet paper?!’ or whatever. I think it’s a very hard forum to be genuine, and I think it does a disservice to people to not be."
