The Coldplay frontman said he picked up this controversial dietary routine from Bruce Springsteen.

Days after Gwyneth Paltrow was called out for her controversial diet, her ex-husband Chris Martin is sharing his own questionable eating habits.

While appearing on the March 20 episode of the podcast Conan O'Brien Needs a Friend, the Coldplay frontman revealed he doesn't eat dinner.

During their chat, host Conan O'Brien pointed out that Martin gets to pick the brains of musical greats he grew up listening to and asked if the musician had gotten advice from his idols.

"Well, I don't actually have dinner anymore," shared Martin. "I stop eating at four, and I learned that from having lunch with Bruce Springsteen."

O'Brien joked, "What happened? Were you having lunch with him and he said, 'After this, no more! That's it!'?"

Martin explained that he was lucky enough to go to Springsteen's home for lunch the day after they played a show together in Philadelphia in 2022.

"I was on a really strict diet anyway [but I thought] Bruce looks even more in shape than me, and [Springsteen's wife] Patti [Scialfa] said he's only eating one meal a day," recalled the musician. "So I was like, 'Well, there we go. That's my next challenge.'"

O'Brien didn't pry on why Martin feels the need to take such extreme measures in his diet, instead moving along the conversation to discuss what it's like to share time with his own heroes.

When coverage of Martin's controversial comments came out, fans took to social media to call him out.

Similarly to Martin, Paltrow went on Dr. Will Cole's podcast The Art of Being Well, where she discussed her very strict diet, which includes eating bone broth for lunch and intermittent fasting.

After the Goop founder caught tons of flack online for speaking on her dietary routine, Paltrow explained on her Instagram Story that she has a specific diet to treat high levels of inflammation caused by long COVID.
