It's no secret that Chris Hemsworth is a hottie with a body, but how exactly he achieves his Thor-ready physique is a whole other story. Or, at least, it was.

The Marvel star's longtime private chef, Sergio Perera, just dished on his blockbuster movie preparations, including how he quite literally beefs up with his favorite food—"good quality beef"—for his roles.

"Obviously, the buy is a big boy," Perera told an Australian news outlet, while adding that he "requires a lot of protein for the body he has."

The pair's working relationship actually started nearly a decade ago, when Hemsworth's wife Elsa Pataky called him up shortly after he wrapped the first Thor film. "He needed someone to help match his meal plan to his physical demands," Perera said. "And that's how I came on board."

Perera worked closely with Hemsworth's personal trainer to nail down their health goals for the actor. He became so passionate about the project, that he himself moved to Australia. "I went there thinking I was only going to be there for a few months, but I ended up staying," Perera said.

While "boxed and canned" foods are completely out of the question, according to Perera, he makes the actor a "large, hearty salad" nearly every day with raw and cooked veggies, fermented ingredients, nuts, seeds, and either a piece of steak or fish.

Earlier this year, Men's Health reported that Hemsworth's bulking diet ahead of filming actually consists of 4,500 calories split up into 10 meals. According to the outlet, the actor is fine sacrificing flavor to "get the job done," but his favorite foods include steak, rice, broccoli, chicken, and banana protein shakes.

The actor has also launched an app called Centr Fit for personalized fitness coaching and meal help, which clearly works because it achieved...this:
