Chris Hemsworth Explained Why His Wife Hasn't Changed Her Name

Elsa Pataky and Chris Hemsworth have been together since 2010, but fans have wondered why, after nearly a decade and three children together, Pataky hasn't changed her name. Hemsworth shed some light onto the situation during an appearance on Australia's The Kyle and Jackie O Show on Sunday that it's just something that didn't work out because of the family's travel schedule.

The couple met in 2010 and married that same year. Two years later, they had their first child, 7-year-old daughter India, and in 2014, 6-year-old twin sons Sasha and Tristan. And during all of that, the couple was still working (Pataky in the Fast and the Furious franchise and Hemsworth in the Marvel Cinematic Universe), so she didn't have time — and having her name changed would cause a snag in travel.

"I think that she wanted to, I think she still may," he said. "I think it was when we were coming back from America. We were living in Europe and deciding where to go. It was a complication of passports and so on."

It's not off the docket altogether, though. Hemsworth said that they could be working on it.

"She might still do it," Hemsworth added.

During an earlier interview, Pataky said that everything was so hectic, she just didn't have time to do anything but be married and be a mom.

"We did everything very quickly — I don’t know how we survived as a couple," Pataky told Vogue Australia. "We were married and then a year after we had kids. It puts a lot of pressure on a marriage, but we came out good because there is a lot of love between us and we are very strong personalities but love each other so much. We make it work."
