Marvel's Chris Evans has responded to his accidental NSFW Instagram post.

The Captain America star made the mother of all blunders over the weekend when he inadvertently revealed the contents of his camera roll, which included an NSFW picture of a penis.

Evans reportedly shared a video featuring a game of the trivia app Heads Up, but posted it without trimming the clip.

The video was quickly deleted, but not quick enough. Some of his 6 million followers inevitably caught a glimpse of the NSFW photo and word soon started to make its way around social media.

However, rather than contriving some elaborate explanation, Evans has decided to embrace what happened with a sense of humor. He even managed to use the mishap to draw attention to the 2020 US presidential election.

"Now that I have your attention... VOTE Nov 3rd," he tweeted, with the assistance of a face palm emoji.

Fellow Avengers star Mark Ruffalo was one of the first to post a supportive reply, writing: "Bro, while Trump is in office there is NOTHING you could possibly do to embarrass yourself. See... silver lining."

Jamie Lee Curtis, who starred alongside Evans in Rian Johnson's Knives Out, was also quick to offer her support, cheekily tweeting: "My boy! Proud of him. Got MY attention!"

Johnson himself got involved in the fun, writing: "I’m sure every mathematically possible pun is already in the mentions so I’ll just say LISTEN TO THIS MAN. (And pull that lever) (Oh man)."

Meanwhile, The Good Place star Jameela Jamil simply replied: "You did it for your country."
