Chris Evans and Jenny Slate Have Reportedly Broken Up Again
Chris Evans and Jenny Slate’s on-again, off-again romance is reportedly off again. According to a New York Times profile on the Avengers: Infinity War star, Evans and the Obvious Child actress recently called it quits.
“One book [Evans] found eye-opening was Rebecca Solnit’s The Mother of All Questions,” the Times reports. “Mr. Evans read it while dating the actress Jenny Slate (their on-again, off-again relationship, beloved by the internet, recently ended) and decided that he needed to listen more and speak less.” (We can only assume the NYT got that bit of personal info straight from Captain America himself.)
Evans and Slate, who costarred together in last year’s Gifted, were first together for a year before calling it quits in February 2017, apparently due to a difference in lifestyles. However, there were no hard feelings between them, with Slate telling People the following April, “I have gone on and on about how beautiful Chris is. He is, inside and out.”
It wasn’t long before reconciliation rumors popped up, thanks in part to some flirty Twitter messages and a video on Evans’ account that seemed to feature Slate’s laugh. And by the end of November, it was clear that the two were giving it another shot.
However, something must have gotten in the way of their romance, as we’re right back to the off-again part of their relationship.
Don’t expect them to talk about the breakup publicly, though. Slate revealed after their last split that she regretted speaking in interviews about the relationship. “It goes through all these other outlets and gets distilled. And then it can be made to seem like you were being cheap,” she explained at the time. “I didn’t mean to do that. Especially not with an experience that was so precious to me.”
