Chris Evans Clarifies Captain America's Fate in ‘Avengers 4’ After Controversial Goodbye Message

Sure, Chris Evans already shared an emotional goodbye message for Captain America. But (good news!) the actor just teased the character’s fate in Avengers 4, and it sounds promising.

Over the weekend, the 37-year-old attended Ace Comic Con in Chicago and discussed his controversial tweet-cum-announcement. “I did tweet something that made a lot of people think it was in some way a spoiler,” he said.

Evans went on to debunk any rumors, adding, “I should clarify that regardless of how Avengers 4 ends, I would have tweeted the exact same thing. That last day of filming was a very emotional day and it was the culmination of almost ten years of filming and 22 movies—this unbelievable tapestry.”

The actor also revealed that he wasn’t expecting to get so emotional, saying, “You feel a lot more emotions than I think even I thought I’d feel. I felt it was appropriate to share the gratitude. I know it had a ripple effect, but I am neither confirming nor denying anything.”

Our thoughts go out to Captain America during this difficult time. Avengers 4 will hit theaters on May 3, 2019.
