Chris Benchetler Unveils Special XC Skis With Signature Art

Chris Benchetler: pro skier, artist, father, filmmaker, creative director, climber, and the man behind the ubiquitous and ultra-popular Atomic Bent Chetler skis we've all seen on the mountain.

Recently, Chris added another title to that long list: cross country topsheet designer.

Chris captioned the photo, "Skis come in all shapes and sizes, but don’t be fooled, they’re all skis… Turns out 40mm skis are a real good time."

Considering the Bent Chetlers come as wide as 120mm, 40 is literally a third of what skis can be, width-wise.

Watch a recap of the Atomic Bent Chetler over the last decade below.

As the creative director for Atomic, it's definitely right in the wheelhouse to paint some sweet topsheet designs for skis that aren't designed for hucking cliffs and straightlining chutes.

Chris spreads his skillset across many areas of skiing, including park, backcountry, big mountain, and in the resort (some of my friends biggest claim to fame to this day is meeting Chris Benchetler at Mammoth)!

Watch a quick video on Chris Benchetler's involvement with Atomic below.

Interestingly, the skis are also not for sale.

Chris announced that skiers can "stay tuned on the @atomicnordic and @atomicski channels to snag a pair of these super limited, non purchasable, Redster S9 Gen S’s."

We almost thought there was a new addition to the Atomic Bent ski family.

But Chris is right: these skis are a piece of art, and they're absolutely priceless.
