Chris Benchetler Humbled By Grateful Dead Using His Footage For Final Tour

Professional skier Chris Benchetler collaborated with The Grateful Dead to make his iconic ski movie called 'Fire On The Mountain' back in 2019.

Four years later, and The Grateful Dead (now known as Dead & Company) is using footage from the film as part of their farewell tour visuals.

Benchetler can't believe it. Check it out below:

Caption: "One of those moments in life that hasn’t really sunk in…what a long strange trip it’s been. I poured my heart and soul into Fire On The Mountain and the art that surrounded it. Humbled and grateful to see the footage living on as part of the experience for @deadandcompany’s final tour. A special thank you to @mickeyhart for making it part of your vision. And a friendly reminder to go catch a show, before it’s too late 🙏💀🌹"

Whether you're a fan of The Grateful Dead's music or not, you have to admit that this is pretty darn cool.

I'm one of the few people on earth that doesn't feel strongly either way about the band's polarizing jam-style music. I like some of their songs. I don't like others.

With that said, I could listen to them play their nonsensical, weird, trippy, drug-fueled music all day long as long as Chris Benchetler is skiing to it.

Since we're talking about 'Fire On The Mountain', why not it give it another watch?

Teton Gravity Research: "From the mind of Chris Benchetler comes TGR's latest short film collaboration with Flagship Independent. Improvisation is the silver thread that weaves this crew together. Just as the Grateful Dead did not fit their music into an established category, this short film finds a cast of some of the world’s best athletes on a spontaneous journey of skiing, snowboarding, surfing, and music, complete with a soundtrack comprised of only Grateful Dead music.

Narrated by Hall of Fame basketball player and television sportscaster Bill Walton with music supervision by David Lemieux, audiovisual archivist and legacy manager for the Grateful Dead, Fire On The Mountain features some of action sports’ most legendary athletes: snowboarding’s Jeremy Jones, Danny Davis, Kimmy Fasani, surfing icon Rob Machado, and skiers Michelle Parker and Chris Benchetler. Captured over the course of the winter by cinematographer Tyler Hamlet with the help of Sweetgrass Productions, the visual journey features never seen before visual effects within nature and original artwork by Benchetler and Skye Walker."
