Chocolate shop owned by mother and daughter opening next to this KC coffee place

Sweet Granada, an Emporia-based chocolate shop, is opening its first Kansas City area location in May.

The new chocolate shop will open in the Red Bridge shopping center, next to Crows Coffee, at 533 E. Red Bridge Road, according to a release from Lane4 Property Group.

In 2004, mother-daughter Toni Bowling and Kim Redeker founded the shop in the historic Granada Theatre in downtown Emporia. Sweet Granada sells chocolates, truffles, fudge, macarons, gelato and other desserts.

Derek Krause, who has been involved with Sweet Granada for the past eight years, will manage the Kansas City location.

The Red Bridge store will offer more than 200 desserts, including their bags of “Pop-choc,” a combination of Kansas City’s Velvet Creme popcorn and Sweet Granada’s chocolate.

We have a very strong production team and none of this would be possible without them,” Krause said in a release.

Managed by Lane4, Red Bridge shopping center is home to Wonderscope children’s museum, Barrio Mexican Kitchen + Bar, Made in KC and more.

A new grocery store, Red Bridge Farm Fresh Market, aims to open in the shopping center this year.
