This chocolate hummus recipe is the healthy dessert we didn’t know we needed

This certainly isn’t your typical hummus: It’s light, and fluffy, and you’d never know it was made with chickpeas because it tastes just like a chocolate mousse. Try this snack after dinner if you have a chocolate craving, and pair it with fruit, crackers, chips, pretzels—it’s perfect with practically anything. The best part? You’ll get to indulge in a chocolate craving while still being healthy-ish.

Chocolate Hummus

Serves 8 (serving size: 2 Tbsp.)

Ingredients

1 (15.5-oz.) can chickpeas (garbanzo beans), drained and rinsed
5 Tbsp. pure maple syrup
3 Tbsp. unsweetened cocoa
2 Tbsp. creamy peanut butter
1 Tbsp. olive oil
1 Tbsp. brewed coffee
1 tsp. kosher salt
2 Tbsp. miniature milk chocolate chips
8 large strawberries
1 Gala apple, sliced
1 cup pita chips
1 cup pretzel chips

Directions

1. Process chickpeas, maple syrup, cocoa powder, peanut butter, olive oil, coffee, and salt in a food processor until smooth, about 30 seconds, scraping down sides if necessary.

2. Transfer to a serving bowl; sprinkle with chocolate chips. Serve with strawberries, apple slices, and chips.
