Chloe x Halle Drop "Catch Up" Music Video and Song

Chloe x Halle have something new for fans. The dynamic duo have been working on new music and their first drop is a catchy, pop-sync bop with Swae Lee called "Catch Up." While social distancing from the world, the singers sent at-home images of themselves to Teen Vogue and shared their fresh song with the world.

"[The song] is a tit for tat heartbreak love story," the sisters tell Teen Vogue. "It shares both a male and female perspective on when two people are doing each other wrong in a relationship. We were able to deep-dive into feelings of love, anger, and jealousy while creating with Swae Lee."

While the vocalists have worked with hip-hop artists Joey Bada$$, GoldLink, and Kari Faux, this is the first time they've put out a song with Swae who's one-half of a sibling group, Rae Sremmurd. "He is incredibly talented, and we love how we sound together," Chloe and Halle say.

Incidentally, the video for the song had to be reimagined, in light of social distancing. For this, they recruited creative director Andrew Makadsi, artist Ignasi Monreal, and animator Bliss. In collaboration, they were able to make a Sims-like experience.

"We canceled plans for the music video and the cover art shoot and shifted production and creative gears with the reality of this unprecedented pandemic," Andrew says. "In choosing to be safe we still did not want to settle for the easiest and most convenient choices. In speaking with Chloe x Halle, it was important to push ourselves in creating beautiful art. I’ve been a big fan of Ignasi’s paintings and it was the perfect moment to work together. The teams worked remotely from their homes in Europe, NYC, and LA and I am so proud of what was created.”

Outside of music, both Chloe, 21 and Halle, 20 just wrapped the third season of Grown-ish. Chloe is set to star in The Georgetown Project alongside Russell Crowe, and Halle is gearing up to be Disney's next Little Mermaid. But music, as always, is in their hearts. "We hope this song will help your quarantine experience be even just a little more enjoyable," they say.
