Chloé x Teva Made the Comfortable Sandal of Fashion Girls' Dreams

Gabriela Hearst has always gravitated toward designs with a sense of purpose. At the very beginning, the Chloé creative director had Bahia Bands, colorful ribbons tied around your wrists "to remind yourself of your goals, wishes, and dreams," she tells BAZAAR. "I grew up with these bracelets, making my wishes come true." In the present, those homemade bracelets have inspired part of a major collection arriving today.

BAZAAR can exclusively reveal Chloé and Teva partnered on a line of summer sandals, available now in stores and online. Hearst describes the collaboration as another wish come true: "I wanted to collaborate with a brand that has become an American classic," she says. In their playful mix of functional features and luxury design, they're also a magnet for fashion lovers.

Comfortable classics with a ribbon-adorned twist are the heart of the three-style project. The collection leans into two of Teva's most iconic sandals—the strappy Hurricane XLT2 and platform Hurricane XLT2 Ampsole—as its foundations, Anders Bergstrom, vice president, global GM of Teva at Deckers Brands, tells BAZAAR. Each pair's straps and colorways then give them a Chloé touch: the Hurricane XLT2 is wrapped in cream straps reminiscent of Chloé's popular Woody tote bag, while both versions of the Ampsole (one neutral, one hot pink) reference Chloé's rave-inspired summer 2023 collection with their Bahia Band straps.

This being a Teva collaboration, comfort and environmental impact were also high priorities. The outsoles are 50 percent recycled rubber, giving them a durable, supportive feel and a cooly speckled appearance while meeting both brands' sustainability standards. They're sandals you can walk in all day—and feel good wearing for more than the logo stamped on the straps.

"The many similarities between our Teva brand ethos and Chloé’s are a perfect example of how a shared love of our planet, and a dedication to protect it, can bring people—and brands—from all walks of life together," Bergstrom says.

"I’m especially proud of mindfulness to the environment that we’ve embraced in the collection we’ve developed together,” Hearst agrees.

Just like Teva sandals embraced by Anna Sui, Sandy Liang, AREA, and Collina Strada on the runways of seasons past, the Chloé x Teva sandals are collectibles shoppers can wear. For the fashion girl who's also hitting 10,000-plus steps per day, they're a dream come true.
