Chipotle Is Now Wrapping Their Burritos In Gold Foil

Eating at Chipotle may not be a fancy dine out for you, but if you plan on heading there anytime soon, it may feel much fancier. Don't think it's because they're upping the price of food again, though. This time, customers are getting the luxe treatment due to the "new" packaging for the chain's beloved burritos.

For a limited-time only and at participating Chipotle locations, guests will now be receiving their burritos in gold foil instead of the traditional silver foil that we're used to seeing. How fancy!

What's the reason behind this change, you ask? Well, it's because Chipotle is celebrating the American athletes who are going for the gold in Tokyo for this year's Olympics. The fast-food restaurant is also using it as a way to get fans to cheer on Team USA for the big event. So while you may not be able to compete for your own gold medal over the course of the next few weeks, you can sure take home your own gold when you pick up a burrito from your nearest location.

This isn't the first time that Chipotle has opted for gold foil over silver though. Back in 2011, the company introduced the big switch up as a way to celebrate its 18th anniversary. You can pick up your gold foil-wrapped burrito in-restaurant and through digital orders beginning this Friday, July 23. If you're ordering digitally (through their app or online), you can also nab yourself no cost delivery from July 23 to August 1.

As a side note, wouldn't this be a great time for Trinidad James to drop a fun food-themed remix to that 2012 hit single, "All Gold Everything?" I know you're thinking it too!
