Chipotle Launches New Rewards Program

We deserve this.

If you've ever been in line at Chipotle daydreaming about having a stamp card for each burrito bowl you get everyday, the guac gods have heard your prayers. Chipotle has just announced they'll be offering customers a new loyalty program called Chipotle Rewards. It kicks off today with a soft launch in three markets: Phoenix, Kansas City (both in Kansas and Missouri), and Columbus, Ohio. If you don't live in those cities, fear not: The rewards will go nationwide in 2019.

The initial program will allow eligible customers to sign up for Chipotle Rewards on the Chipotle app or at Chipotle.com. Those who enroll can earn 10 points for every $1 spent; and once you reach 1,250 points, you'll get a free entrée —  without restrictions. Yep, that means any and all entrées are free with points. For those of you doing the math, you'll have to spend $125 before you get your free item, which is typically valued around ten bucks.

Customers lucky enough to test out the rewards program in the first three markets can earn 15 points for every $1 spent in the app and online, according to a press release. Even better: They'll also earn free chips and guac after their first purchase using Chipotle Rewards. But be sure to read the fine print: Reward points expire if not used within 60 days.

"At Chipotle, we've been very focused on making our brand more accessible and growing love and loyalty among our customers," Curt Garner, chief digital and information officer at Chipotle, said in the press release. "Through this program, we can show some love to Chipotle super fans, create a true one-on-one relationship with our customers and unlock new opportunities to engage through offers and discounts—from delighting customers on their birthdays to incentivizing incremental purchases to providing rewards for engaging with the brand's mission to cultivate a better world."
