There's a Christmas miracle in the works for Magnolia Network fans: Before the end of this year, a brand new home series is hitting your TV or wherever you like to stream! The show is called Building Outside the Lines, and it stars innovative builder Jared "Cappie" Capp and his teenage step-daughter Alex Headley as they go around creating one-of-a-kind structures. If you've loved getting to know Chip and Joanna Gaines and their family via Fixer Upper over the years, we have a feeling this series will be a new favorite.

Capp has worked as a professional builder for almost 15 years, and Headley has been an unofficial part of Capp's crew since she was 7 years old. The trailer shows all kinds of whimsical creations made by the duo, like a precious bumblebee-themed structure, a shipping container turned swimming pool, and a hangout made from an old silo to name a few. "Cappie and I build things that make you go, 'What in the world is that?'" says Headley. "He brings the experience, and I bring the new fresh ideas."

Headley tells House Beautiful that her hope for the new show is to inspire the audience to build with what they have. "Don’t let your surroundings limit your creativity," she adds. Her mantra is inspired by Capp, who started building with his father and grandfather when he was about 12 years old.

"Growing up we didn't have a lot of money or resources, so building with what you had was the only option," Capp shares. "My first solo build out was a 1978 VW Bus, complete with solar hot water, and a fully functional kitchen. And they just got crazier from there."

In addition to inspiring audiences with their own home projects, Capp hopes that viewers will take away an important lesson about family. "To have this time with my daughter and be able to have a positive effect on people’s lives is truly priceless," he shares. "Cherish your kids, they grow up so fast."

The wholesome show premieres with a double-episode on Tuesday, December 26 at 8/7c on the Magnolia Network—the perfect timing for those of us who are still upset that Fixer Upper: The Hotel has ended. New episodes will air every Tuesday after that, and you can stream them on the same day on Max and Discovery+. If you're still unsure what to get the person in your life who's constantly streaming home reno shows, maybe gift them a yearly subscription to one of those streaming services so they can watch all the new shows and reruns they like!
