Chip & Joanna Gaines Hint at Baby No. 5’s Name
Chip and Joanna Gaines have no problem picking home furnishings or agreeing on reno plans, but when it comes to baby names, the couple isn’t as in sync.
The Fixer Upper: Behind the Design stars visited the Today show and admitted that they’re still deciding on a name for their fifth child.
“I want a ‘C’ name and he wants a ‘D’ name,” Joanna explained to hosts Savannah Guthrie and Craig Melvin. “I say he got the boy, so I get to pick the name.” Preach, Joanna.
Both of their sons—Drake (13) and Duke (9)—were given “D” names, so a “C” name would definitely break with Gaines tradition. As Chip put it, “She wants to change the pace.”
Joanna went on to reflect on how raising baby number five should be slightly less challenging this time around: “There’s going to be quite the [age] gap. I’m going to have lots of little helpers. I’m so excited.”
Chip, on the other hand, said he sees the introduction of a new Gaines in a different light. “This is really upsetting the balance of powers. So the boys might be able to out-vote from here until kingdom come,” he said.
Oh, Chip. Never change.
