If you are or ever have been a fan of Fixer Upper or the Gaines family, then you know about their iconic Waco family home — the farmhouse. Chip and Joanna originally purchased the quaint two-bedroom, Victorian era home back in 2012, and spent a year and a half transforming the farmhouse into their home. Many fans have been curious if the couple, along with their five children, still live in the 1,700-square-foot house.

Do Chip and Joanna Gaines still live at their farmhouse?

They do! But a little-known fact: the house is actually not within the boundaries of Waco, but rather in the Waco suburb of Crawford, Texas. Though that seems like a welcome trade-off as it sits on 40 acres of land, something you won't find within the city. Plus, there is plenty of room for all the Gaines's more than 60 farm animals and their children – Emmie Kay, Ella, Drake, Duke and Crew – to run around.

Built in 1895, Chip and Joanna maintained much of the antique charm of the home, while adding a few modern touches here and there like a state-of-the-art kitchen. "You'll notice that a few original pieces have remained on our walls or displayed on shelved – that's because they mean a great deal to our family and will therefore always have a place in our home," Joanna wrote in a 2019 blog post. Since the initial renovation of the farmhouse that we witnessed on season one of Fixer Upper, Chip and Joanna have made a few changes to the home, including creating a large, dreamy garden where they grow some of the food served at their restaurant: Magnolia Table.

From the garden to the French doors to the floor-to-ceiling brick fireplace, this house is truly one of the Gaines' masterpieces. No wonder they don't want to part with their home of nearly 10 years! Though their other Waco properties (including the Cottonland Castle, Hillcrest Estate, and The Carriage House) are just as appealing in our eyes, the family's choice to stay in their humble farmhouse highlights all the things fans love about them: their humility, their tight-knit family structure and the value they place on sentimental objects which remind them of their roots.

Plus, at this age, the kids don't seem to mind sharing a room, especially when they have plenty of other areas to hang out including their craft room and secondary living room in the finished attic.

"The more time we spent out there, I'd catch glimpses of how good it could be for us. Something felt right about our family being there despite all the very good reason we didn't belong," in an essay titled "Slow Yes," Joanna wrote of coming around to the idea of turning the farmhouse into their family home.

It seems our favorite house flipping family, isn't going anywhere any time soon, though the beloved farmhouse continues to be a never-ending work in progress.
